Are you ready for a new home?

We’re midway through a year that has brought incredible changes. Many of us started working from home this spring. Schools were closed so the kids were home. Travel plans were canceled or postponed.

You most likely spent more time in your home in the last three months than you ever could have imagined. In the process of adapting to all the changes, you may have discovered that your home isn’t particularly suited for the new normal.

If you’re questioning whether your current home still meets your needs, here are a few reasons a new space might make sense:

  • You need more space (or less). If college kids or elderly parents are staying with you for the foreseeable future, you may be short on space and ready for a larger home. Some empty nesters and retirees with more space than they need are waiting to downsize until we have more answers about Covid-19.

  • You’re continuing to work from home. The workplace in America is definitely changing. Employees aren’t seeing the need to go to the office; they’re more productive at home. Companies are questioning the expense of office space. If you plan to work from home indefinitely, you need a dedicated home office—not the kitchen island or patio table.

  • You’re spending more time outdoors. Outside is one of the safest places to be during the pandemic. When the gyms and yoga studios closed, a lot of us relied on outdoor activities for exercise. You can social distance with friends more easily in the yard or on the deck than indoors. If you don’t have adequate outdoor space now but crave it, that’s a reason to look for new quarters.

  • You need flex space. The reasons for undesignated space these days are plentiful: the kids needs a place to study online; your elderly parent needs a quiet space apart from the hubbub of the family; you need a work space where you won’t be interrupted. Flex space is golden when everybody’s home. Does your home have it?

If you’re considering a new home, we’re here to help. The market is still strong. Inventory is low. Interest rates are at an all-time low, and buyer confidence is strong. All good reasons to jump in now. Give us a call to talk through your options.
