High demand and low inventory bode well for sellers

We’ve been fielding a lot of questions about the real estate market in recent weeks. Is now a good time to sell? How do showings work? Are buyers allowed to tour a property, or can they only look online? We’re here to help you sort things out.

For starters, homes are selling. We’re still dealing with low inventory. Low inventory usually means multiple offers, which is still the case. We’ve seen it with our listings this spring. A home that’s in excellent shape and priced right can expect more than one offer.

Buyers are allowed to tour properties. We’re scheduling showings. After each showing the buyer’s broker wipes down high-touch surfaces like door knobs, light switches and railings with disinfectant wipes. Only one buyer (or couple) is allowed in the home at a time. The one exception to showings are tenant-occupied properties; those are currently off limits.

If you’re thinking about selling your home, get in now while the demand is high and the inventory low. No one knows what the market will look like in a year. Our advice is to act now vs. waiting to see what happens. We’re also hearing from renters who are looking toward buying their first home after weeks of being cooped up in small quarters with no outdoor space.

Give us a call if you have any concerns. We’re available to answer your questions and help you navigate the process. Be assured that we’ll take every precaution to ensure your safety and good health, as a buyer or a seller. Be well and stay safe.
